In January 2013, Alex eventually, built a pool at my house. It was a mess from the word go. He wanted a single layer brick wall built because he was unhappy with the rockface of my 'hole in the ground' without ever seeing it. I had the wall built by a bricklayer. Alex did not check that the wall was level when he arrived - just shouted at his workers that it must 'mah be level' and started working. Rain interrupted the handpacking - not heavy rain - but suddenly the one process he told me must never be interrupted no matter what - could be stopped for 8 hours. The concrete had set so hard by morning they could not even out the lumps and bumps. And lo and behold - the pool was uneven - the water level at the shallow end was about 5 cm lower than at the deep end after being built up almost two bricks higher than planned. Alex assured me he will fix it at HIS cost. Ha-ha - he finally showed up in October - I (me, mwha) had to buy new tiles and bullnoses - he only supplied labour. My pool is now drowning depth at the shallow end but I did not want him messing it up any worse. At least it is level-ish and few people will notice the cement is blotchy behind the glass tiles.
