I recently had a birthday and as I'm quite an avid Diy'er, was asked whether I would prefer a Chamberlain- or Builder's Warehouse gift voucher. I chose Chamberlain as I've always found their staff extremely helpful and knowledgeable - in contrast to Builder's.
So armed with my fairly substantial gift voucher, I arrived at their Centurion branch with my shopping list: dovetail jig/kit, jigsaw guide (both of which I've seen there before) and the Skil Octo sander. Dovetail jig out of stock. Jigsaw guide out of stock. The Skil Octo was in stock but as I live on a farm in Limpopo, I always buy extra sanding sheets/blades/discs of whatever tool I'm purchasing. The salesperson however indicated that they do not stock the specialised sanding sheets used with the Octo at all (I could order it though).
Come on. They set aside loads of space for tat like 10 different types of cheap multitools but can't carry consumables for an item they prominently feature on their in-store and online promotions?
I ended up walking into Builders Warehouse to get the stuff I needed. It's going to take me a long time to spend that gift voucher.
