I purchased a property in 2012 and the transferring attorney (Schwellenus Attorney's) selected an electrician (Johan Mare) to prepare the Electrical COC. I asked whether the selected supplier was Electrical Board Approved and was assured that the company had been used for 6 years with no problems reported. In January 2013, my tenants reported that the one geyser on the property was not working and kept tripping the electricity. They contacted Johan to fix the issue - first of all, Johan reported that he did not even know the property had 2 geysers (not picked up in the original COC he provided), and the electrical board that he certified as compliant only has one geyser switch. He tried to fix the problem and ended up messing up the main earth switch - which he then quoted R1800 to fix, and by this time there was absolutely no electricity in the house! My tenants called me and I informed them that they should contact Colin from Comply Electrical - the ONLY electrician I trust! Comply came out immediately (at 17h00 in the afternoon), fixed the problem and then did a compliance assessment. It cost me another R5000 to get the house compliant and I now have a COC I trust!
