In South Africa, according to a report issued by NERSA, it is not permitted to make deductions from a prepaid meter for levies and or common electricity charges which are to be invoiced to the occupant separately.
Prepaidmeters is facilitating the illegal deduction of substantial amounts of money from my meters. They claim that they are allowed to follow instructions from their Client, the Managing Agent for the building. Not so!!! What they are doing is aiding and abetting in outright. In December alone I had nearly R4000 removed from the meter of an apartment that is 108m2 and I was not even using the apartment for two weeks out of that month. My account on their website clearly states the amounts for ''services'' that have been deducted.
I have filed criminal charges with the police. I have a case number. A prosecutor is taking the case forward.
