No feedback unless the client follows up

I logged a claim with MiWay for repairs. I was advised I'd be contacted by the panel-beater to arrange time for booking. A month passed with no word. I phoned up Renew-it and spoke to Jackie. Apparently my VIN number was invalid so she could not check for parts. I gave her the correct details and a few days later she contacted me to confirm parts are available and scheduled the 4th of April to bring in my car.
On the 4th of April I arrived with my car, and completed the booking in procedure in the morning. I was advised someone would give me a call later that day and tell me how long the repair would take and give me regular updates.
NO call came.
On the 10th I phoned in to get an update. Turns out no parts had been sourced and the car hadn't even been stripped yet. I was told this by Shaun. He said he'd lean on the parts department and let me know as my car progressed through the different departments.
On Friday the 12th I phoned in again, requesting an update, my car had gone to the stripping department (finally) and they were still awaiting parts.
I don't know why my car had to sit there for a week before anything started happening??
