We took our Alfa to Cardinals in Nelspruit for a suspected faulty injector. Drove the car there from Lydenburg- it had an intermittent jerking action. After about 3 months and a bill of R8000, we had to tow the car away with a suspected bent valve. Took this up with the dealer principal and Alfa head office- basically you have no recourse, and were told by the dealership to remove the car from the premises. They claimed the car came in with a slack timing belt and that someone must have tampered with it- all.

After we had the engine opened, we found a piece of foreign material- metal- in the cylinder, co-incidentally the same cylinder that they pulled the injector from. It is clear as daylight that the incompetent technician, after he butchered out the injector with a piece of rebar and damaged the tappet cover, dropped a piece of metal into the engine, and, with the workshop manager and dealership principal. No assistance from Alfa SA either, they refuse to get involved. Alfas are good cars, but have no chance in this country with a poor dealer network run by immoral and incompetent people. Look at the sales figures- it all adds up
