My wife who is 4 months pregnant was involved in a car accident on Friday 08 March 2013 and was collecting a courteousy vehicle at Budget car rental located in 130 Main Road Johannesburg, referred to as the Carlton Centre branch. In this process, another Budget car rental client was dropping off a vehicle on the premises the Carlton Centre Branch on 08 March 2013 at approximately 17h20, made sexual advances towards my wife. This person smelled of alcohol, and in my opinion as a medical doctor, he displayed the clinical features of alcohol intoxication. When I approached a Budget staff member to assist me with terminating the sexual harassment of my wife, the Budget employee said it was none of his business and walked away. As a company operating in South Africa, Budget should have a policy on sexual harassment at the workplace involving employees and clients. In the absence of such a policy, common sense and common courteosy should have prevailed on the employee of Budget, sadly this was lacking too. On resolution of my insurance claim with Budget, I will terminate my contract with Budget Insurance and will ensure my network of 100s of doctors are made aware of this incident.
