Charges for booking in Vehicle

On 13 March 2013, I booked in my bakkie.

As to be expected they checked in the vehicle and after a couple of hours they phoned to explain the problem and to discuss the amount payable.

Vusi (who was the agent that contacted me) explained that the battery was flat and that they would charge me R1227.00 to replace the battery. Of course I knew that an agent would Charge a little more, but I felt that this amount was well over the general charge and I then decided to contact Supa Quick across the road Who quoted me R810.00.

I then phoned Vusi back explaining to him that I have decided to go to supa quick instead and he then said I had to pay an additional amount to get the car released. I then spoke to the service manager, Peter, who confirmed this and I was told that the amount was over R600.00!!!

I refused to pay this amount as it was not discussed in advance and I have not been given the option to to accept or decline this condition.

I feel that this is not only daylight but also in breach of the CPA Act. These charges should be in the terms and conditions and I have therefore received no documentation or warning with regards to this charge.
