Hi, Shell and Visa are currently running a competition to pay by swiping rather than using cash. There i was going to Shell Katlehong yesterday hoping to beat the petrol price increase and also buy petrol and pay by my bank card. So they told me that they swipe first before they put petrol in your car. I did not have a problem with that because maybe they had incidents of customers having insufficient funds. When i gave them my card to swipe the cashier told me that thier manager told them not to accept Gold Cheque card. So i was suprised because this card works the same as a debit card so i asked what is the problem with Gold Cheque card because i had used it before at the same garage. The explanation from the manager or the owner of the garage was that they dont get commission when they swipe with cheque card, so because of that they do not take cheque cards. So i ended up having to leave the garage and go look for another garage of which i did, i went to sasol garage and they gave me good service. The other reason i use my card to pay for my petrol is that i am an FNB cardholder so i get 15% back on fuel plus ebucks when i swipe. Shell Katlehong very ridiculous.
