We bought a Ford Ranger in December 2012 and paid Manhattan Motors R3700 to register the car in my name. They promised me that the Licence disk will be delivered to my house in January. In February I bought another car, and was told that they cannot register this car as I have an unregistered vehicle in my name. After investigating, we realized it is the Ford we bought from Manhattan. We contacted Manhattan and was told that the car is no longer roadworthy as they did not pay for the Licence disk. We must put the car through the roadworthy test again and get the disk. This meant that I was driving my car worth R480 000 without insurance! I have phoned them several times requesting my R3700 back as they did not deliver on the disk, but they never phone back.
I have asked to be contacted by the Dealer Principal, but he never phones back!
My advise, stay away from Manhattan motors. I will definitely raise this with the financial companies as well, as they are also putting themselves at risk should something happen to the car they have in good faith, financed!
