I was fortunate to have secured the right to distribute a rather unique patented product in South Africa and recently imported samples from the manufacturer in Sweden. My account with TNT was overdue, so I paid my account in full before I instructed TNT Cape Town to uplift the goods in Sweden, which they arranged promptly. I was surprised that a few days after pick-up I received an email from my supplier, advising him that TNT Sweden informed him that our firm is a credit risk and if we do not pay, they will come to him for payment. I was at that time unaware that TNT also operate as a credit report agency. I told him not to worry and that I will get a written apology from TNT. No apology was forthcoming, so I settled my account with TNT in full for freight and duties for this import and requested that my account be closed, after 8 years meaningful business. TMy Swedish supplier is now pestered by TNT Sweden with an invoice for 6 times my agreed courier cost, which we paid already, and he is, of late, also pestered by a debt collector. Despite email assurances from TNT Cape Town that they will arrange a credit via TNT Sweden, nothing is happening. Why is this so??
