I am very disappointed with the service I received from Kia. I bought a Kia 2700 pickup bakkie six months ago at the Pinetown branch. On Wednesday, 2024, I was driving the car to Empangeni from Durban on the N2 with no traffic on the road. When I was approaching the Mthunzini tollgate, I slowed down, and the car began to exhibit high revving. The revving was very high.

I started to drive very slowly, trying to reach my home in Durban. I called the Kia road assistance line to have the car towed to the nearest Kia branch, which is KE Masinga in Durban. The car was towed on Thursday, 16/10/2024. Then I waited for a call about the car, but nobody contacted me.

On Monday, 21/10/2024, I went to the branch to ask them what the problem was with the car. I was helped by a gentleman. I knew that the car had a clutch problem, but I was told that the insurance wouldn't pay because it was my fault, which was a very big surprise. I have been driving manual cars since 2006 and have never had such a problem.

The car I am driving is not my first car, and the Kia 2700 we bought is not the first car we purchased from Kia. But when the car has a factory fault, I am told that it is my fault. When will it be recognized as a factory fault? I confirm that the clutch of the car is a factory issue. I have been driving cars and have never had such a problem before. I am convinced that the car is faulty.

You need diligent people who will listen to the complainant's statement and understand that the vehicle was registered six months ago, its first registration. Someone must be accountable. The car must be checked by the manufacturer. The car's gearbox is faulty; why is this not being done when the car is under the service plan?
