We booked a car together with a baby car seat 6 weeks in advance. We had to pay R500 for 10 days rental of the car seat and had to provide the baby's age on booking. On arrival, the lady behind the counter looked at our 14month old child and fetched a car seat based on her estimation of size. Now car seats usually come with strict weight limits (minimum and maximum) and a detailed brochure to explain installation into the car. This car seat had no stickers or manuals to indicate either weight limits or installation instructions. The car seat was much too big for my child. I asked if they had any other car seats and they brought me one more which was even bigger. I asked if they could help with installation and the lady declined stating that they received no training on car seat installations.
So, we had a carseat which we didn't know how to install and which was much too big. We have thus spend R500 for something completely useless and we had no safe means of transporting our baby.
We trusted First Car Rental to provide us with a decentproduct but they had no regard for the safety of our baby.
