Such disappointment after just 45 000km

I bought my brand new Honda Jazz on 19 Aug 2009 and have been thrilled to bits with it ~ until today. I've waxed lyrical to so many people about it over the last 3 and a half years. And quoted the JD Power survey.45000km service today ~ car only has a service plan ~ I get phoned with the bad news ~ new clutch required, new battery required, front pads to be skimmed = plus/minus R 13 000! This is 8.5% of the price I paid for the car!!
I do not drive in traffic and never had with this car. I do not 'ride' my clutch. Years ago I was a rally driver so know how to drive! I have had two Jettas in the past ~ the last CLi I had had done done 215 000km on the original clutch and the previous one 150 000km before I traded it in. I was taught to drive way back in the 60s when one was taught to be easy on the brakes and use gears to slow you down ~ I do not speed so I do not brake hard, ever. I have never engaged the ABS brakes. Can sort of understand the battery, however, again, my Jettas only ever had 2 batteries. My Jeep Grand Cherokee went 60 000km before I needed a new battery. I am NOT HAPPY at all and have an alternative source to check these faults and cost it for me before I go ahead.
