On 22 May I took my car to Honda Pinetown to have a rattle in the rear brakes attended to. Mileage was 42, 441km.
According to the Service Agent, I had to replace all the brake pads (4 sets) and the front disks for which I duly paid R7, 286.88 as I do not have a Maintenance Plan. I found this replacement at such low mileage to be rather unusual. My previous car had the parts replaced at 90, 000km.
On 11 July I again took the car to Honda Pinetown, for the 45, 000km service. The mileage was 45, 021km. Upon collecting the car for service, I was given a service report that stated that the front brake pads would need replacing at around 60, 000km (when the next service was due). When I queried the fact that I had just replaced these parts, the staff at Honda Pinetown could not find the details of the above work on their system. I vouched to send a scan of the service receipt to the Service Manager - Cedric van Wyk for him to investigate. This I did on the same day.
I have yet to receive any response from him or the Dealer Principal (Jeff Grant - who I copied in a follow up mail). Are parts being replaced unnecessarily?
A second mail to CMH Honda and the above has also been ignored.
