Sandton Auto
Faulty diagnosis and bad attitude

I took my car to Sandton Auto- the EML light was on & the car had lost power. The diagnosis was: turbos had to be replaced. Quote was R30K. This was the only fault I was advised of. After a struggle, I managed to come up with R30K & gave the go ahead for repairs. On Friday 11 Oct 13, I collected the car after repairs were done. After driving app 30kms the car started losing power again & there were 'pinging' noises from the engine. I took the car back the next day, there were no technicians that day & so I got a call from the service advisor on the Monday. I was told that they picked up another issue... all injectors had to be replaced (further R30K quoted). Confused as to how the injector issue was not picked up on original diagnosis, I went to the service mgr to complain & to advise that I cant come up with a further R30K for a possible original misdiagnosis or fault from their side, he denied any fault from their side & commented that he had a family to feed & targets to meet. Was told later that only 2 injectors had to be replaced & quoted R10K . Had I kept quiet, the quote would have remained 30K. I paid the 10K coz I needed my car & did not have resources to fight on. Never again
