Unahappy with the runaround

I am faced with a situation where my petrol tank lid was not sealed properly & the exterior flap was closed. During this time I went to the ATM. Upon my return the petrol attendant was waiting for payment. I paid & drove to my destination only to see that the inner cap had hit the exterior flap & flew off & the petrol evaporated. The exterior flap is now damaged & does not lock. I returned to the garage to query this. Apparently the attendant "tried to stop me" yet I drove slowly as my spouse was looking at the vehicles at Hyundai. The manager advised that they will purchase & provide it to me by Friday 25/01 & that he would call me the next day to confirm & I was given a "temporary" petrol cap. I received a call on Thursday 24/01 only to be told that I will need to make the purchase & they will reimburse me & that I don't have to go to VW, I should "go to any spares shop". Due to the negligence of the attendant, my Original VW part had fallen off & the other is damaged. Engen needs to replace the original parts. I do not have the time&money to acquire it & this is a huge inconvenience to me as I work long hours. Secondly I would like to see proof of payments for the original parts.
