The current advertising campaign/s to use genuine Toyota parts is really farcical. I herewith swear to never, ever use Toyota genuine parts again. I had an approved alarm fitted at a Toyota dealership. The alarm stopped working after a few days. I took it back and was told that "a plug had come loose". After 3 more weeks the same thing happened and I was told that they would have to replace the whole unit because it was faulty. When I asked them to rather remove the unit and refund my money, I was told that it was an electrical part and was non-refundable. I further pointed out that I had had an alarm fitted to our other Toyota 5 years ago at a non-Toyota audio shop and I have had no problems up to date with it. The service manager ended up losing it and shouting at me that I could do whatever I liked. The technician responsible is also not on site and I have to bring the vehicle in at his convenience. I have lost all trust in the dealership, Protea Toyota and rather elect to go back to a non-Toyota audio/alarm shop. Toyota SA in also totally unsympathetic. Why do I have to take the vehicle back a 3rd time? Why can Toyota not match or better the performance of smaller companies?
