Imperial backed ssang yong when i had bought my 2012 korando. Because of imperial's backing i bought this brand. I specifically asked the sales person and DP if their was any plan to for future issues with ssang yong as this happened before with the brand. I was assured that the brand was a save buy as an imperial product. The brand was sold early in 2012 to mahindra. No negotiated protection or notification offered or given to those 2 who had already bought from them. My car subsequently lost R 200 000, 00 in value in 6 months and the new vehicle list price dropped by R75000 in 8 months. A 2012 korando awd auto now trades for R150 000, a drop in value of R 175 000. Most dealerships do not want to trade in a used 2012 ssang yong and offer R100 000 rand as cover.
I was maybe naive in buying the brand, believing that with imperial backing it may grow like kia and hyundai.
I'm seriously considering laying complaints with the AA of SA, the Consumed Complaints board and the competition commission.
