My insurance company hired me a Toyota Etios on the 5th of August 2013 (Agreement 749518755). I had the car for two days. My office is 600m from where I live. I have not even travelled 20 km with the vehicle. When I filled up the car with petrol just before collection at my office, it took exactly 1.63lt to the amount of R21.21. The garage is not even a 100m from my office. On the 12th of August Avis debited my account with R36.90. When I queried what the amount was for they said it was fill up the car, which is nonsense as already filled the car and their office is not more than 7km from my office. Either the driver who collected the vehicle did not drove directly to Avis (7km) and drove around in other places that can be up to 40km or Avis acts unlawfully. It's not about R36, but on the principle of the matter. I am also reporting this matter to my insurance company. It is a shame especially when you can do it to thousands of people. I am a short-term insurance broker myself, and would not recommend Avis to my clients.
