Rented a car from Avis at their King Shaka branch. The car was never checked in my presence when we got it. on Monday when we returned the vehicle there was apparent damage to the under side of the front bumper. I disputed the matter as I bear no knowledge of it. Phoned the Avis head office from the airport and spoke to Denise in the CEO's office, she promised to refer the matter to the regional manager. Tuesday 6 August I received a phone call from card division informing me that Avis is trying to debit an amount to my account. on the 7th August I received a phone call from the operations manager for Avis, he informed me that they have reviewed the case and that it was up to me to go through the car on my own as it is not their policy to check cars with customers. In the mean time we phoned several Avis branches including OR Tambo to find out what the standard procedure is when picking up a car, they all confirmed that it standard for an Avis employee to check a vehicle with the customer. When confronting the operations manager he denied this and said that it was and never standard practice. He further said that Avis don't care about bad reports, as they will just sue!
