When taking out a vehicle I was advised to return the car full of fuel. I filled the car to capacity only 9km from OR Tambo. The next day, with me back overseas, I was e-mailed a statement with a R69.72 fuel charge. The car was a small Chev Spark and would not likely consume much more than half litre fuel in 9km of highway driving. I queried this charge and received, by e-mail, a copy of a hand written fuel dispensing sheet from the depot and an explanation that the tanks are not always filled to capacity by petrol attendants due to an air-lock that occurs - CASE CLOSED! (Must I assume this air-lock only happens when standing at a commercial pump but not at the one at their depot?). The e-mail asked me to rate my satisfaction, but I was not given a reply to my verdict of 'unsatisfied'. I phoned First customer service and was placed, and left on hold on three occasions. On my fourth call I asked if I was to be put on hold indefinitely again and this time I was directed to someone who told me the Customer Service Manager was 'just out for a short while' but would definitely call back even though I was situated overseas... Still waiting!
