Returned hire care on 1/12/2013 to Capetown Airport depot. I had filled the car's fuel tank at the BP airport filling station about 500 metres from the depot immediately before returning the car. On receiving my invoice I found that I had been charged for 5.4 litres of fuel. I immediately complained pointing out that I had returned the car with a full tank but my complaint was dismissed with the argument that their hire cars are always topped by First upon return and that the tank is not necessarily filled by the garage - that the filling station fills the tank 'only until fuel touches the filler nozzle' A nonsense argument to which I responded immediately only to be told 'case closed. The car in question was a Chevrolet Spark which has a 35 litre fuel tank so was filled about 14% short of full capacity at the BP filling station or used 5 ltres of fuel in the 500 metres between BP filling station and First Car reception!!!
