I rented a car in July and upon returning the vehicle on a Sunday afternoon, I checked the car together with the europcar agent and confirmed with him if everything was in order before I left. A day later I received an email from the supervisor claiming that there was a fresh dent and scratch on the front bumper. I immediately
Responded requesting the photos and for them to view their CCTV footage - we checked the car and nothing was wrong then - even confirmed by their own staff. After contacting several people about this case, the response was that I am still responsible for the damage and will be charged. Why did we not see this damage before? What took them 2 weeks to respond? And why was the photos only supplied in the final correspondence? How does a client complete an accident report if no accident occurred - even though europcar staff suggest that I cannot recall which implies that I would forget something like an accident?.I am absolutely appalled by this incident. My warning to everyone - make sure you check the car thoroughly - even the undercarriage from the sounds of things and make sure you get something in writing before leaving the car park.
