Let this be known that this is my second serious complaint about Europcar.
This time I handed my car over to their valet service when I was traveling abroad. When I arrived back in South Africa on Sunday, 18/03/2013, they returned my car to me with a 30 cm long, 5 - 10 cm wide (and extremely deep) scratch on the front bumper! The vehicle was inspected by them on delivery - and the scratch was not there when I handed over the keys.
The Europcar representative reassured me that Europcar would pay for the damages, and would contact me the following day to make the arrangements. I have not heard ANYFROM from them yet.
This sort of no-care attitude from a company should not be tolerated and I am doubting why I gave them a second chance at all??
My advice when using Europcar is NOT to pay them upfront. Inspect your vehicle before handing over the and after receiving the keys. Make them note down any faults and make them sign the form. This is damage to a R370, 000 car, and the costs should not come out of my pocket.
