I collected my hire car on 3 July and returned it the following day. Capital Car Hire requested a R2000 deposit (seemed high for the Mini category). Instead of holding the deposit, as has been the case with my previous car hiring experiences, they actually processed the R2000 payment through my credit card. It then took them 8 days (and 3 phone calls from myself) to refund the deposit.
This is, in my book, completely unacceptable and I'd like to caution prospective Capital Car Hire customers> It might be better to choose one of the more reputable companies to avoid any nasty shocks. I can't help feeling that Capital's low rates are compensated for by the interest earned on holding large deposits for over a week.
