GOT A RENTAL FOR THE DURATION OF MY CAR'S REPAIR. THE SERVICE I GOT FROM THE PEOPLE AT AVIS SOMERSET WEST BRANCH WAS GOOD. I THOUGHT I COULD TRUST THEM, NO PROBLEM. AN AVIS LADY AND I WALKED AROUND THE RENTAL CAR TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANY DAMAGE ON THE CAR. FEW NICS AND BRUISES. NOTHING TOO SERIOUS. SIGNED THE PAPER AND OFF I WENT. ABOUT 2 WEEKS AFTER, I HAD A DRIVER COLLECT THE CAR FROM MY PROPERTY IN SOMERSET WEST. I GOT A CALL FROM THE VERY SAME AVIS LADY WHO DID THE INSPECTION WITH ME WHEN I FIRST GOT THE CAR. SHE TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS EXTRA DAMAGE ON THE CAR. SOMETHING ABOUT A CHIP ON THE WINDSCREEN AND A CHIP / DENT ON THE RIGHT REAR SILL. BELOW THE PASSENGER DOOR. OK NOW FIRST OF ALL THIS IS SOMETHING THAT CAN BE OVERLOOKED QUITE EASILY WHEN DOING A QUICK INSPECTION, WHICH IS WHAT WE DID WHEN I FIRST GOT THE CAR. AND IF SOMETHING SERIOUS HAPPENED WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MY POSESSION, I WOULD HAVE CERTAINLY KNOWN ABOUT IT. AVIS DO NOT EXPECT ME TO PAY FOR SOMEONE ELSE'S DAMAGE. THE CAR WAS RETURNED IN THE VERY SAME CONDITION I GOT IT IN.
