I took my wife's car (a Volvo S40 - 2007 model) in for it's annual service (she does very low mileage therefore we service annually) to the dealer where we have bought the car 6 years ago, and have had the vehicle serviced there every year since. They called me with the estimate for the service - /- R 8, 500.00! After I complained bitterly, they suddenly gave a 10% discount and adjusted the hours to give me a final estimate of R 7, 430.00. Amongst the costs were R 770.00 for wiper blades! Totally over the top! I told them to leave it and went to fetch the car, only to be lumped with a bill for R 672.60 for diagnostics!!! The workshop manager spoke to me and tried to explain away the high costs, but even he had to shake his head at the high cost for wiper blades. I tried to see the dealer principal, but off course he was not available, but I have been told he will call me - we wait and see. We are planning to replace my wife's car in January 2014, and Volvo was very high on our shopping list, but definitely not anymore - they lost a definite sale.
