I wanted to obtain a quotation at abovenamed supplier. Upon entering I was greeted by a very friendly lady, who enquired whether I wanted to fix my car through my insurance company or am I willing to pay for it myself. I explaine. She then stated it will be R180.00 for the quote, which I didn't understand since there is no clause/agreement between myself or my insurance company that I need to pay for any quotations obtained. Meanwhile a male person appeared from one of the offices and I enquired from him if this is true (that I had to pay). He non-chalantly just said "Yes, you give me R180, if you fix your car by me you will get it back, cause what you guys do is let the insurance pay the money and you get it fixed by a guy under some tree and pocket the money". Upon exiting I noticed a printing on his window stating "Open for free quotes"...
1) What was he meaning with the words "you guys"(by the way I'm colored and he is white)
2) Why is he advertising "Free Quotes" when he expexts you to pay R180 per quote?
3) Does he think I wanna my insurance company and keep the money?
4) Is he aware of the consequences of "False Advertising" in accordance with the NCA and CPA?
Thank you
