Wimpy
Children in the smoking area not acceptable!!!

Hi

I am a frequent visitor to Wimpy and a smoker. Much to my surprise last week a family enter the smoking area with their three children (ALL under the age of 10)... I complained to the manager Allen who shrugged his shoulders and said it's the parents prerogative if they want to subject their children to smoking even with a "no persons under the age of 18" emblazoned on the door.

Lo and behold three days later as I was having lunch at Wimpy a couple enters the smoking section with their 11 year old again! I took a picture this time. Upon confronting the manager he said he took the matter up with the owner of the franchise (Abrie?) and he merely stated that the parents are liable for a fine if in fact it is against the law and that Wimpy can not do a thing to stop this.

Now according to my records in the Government Gazette TOBACCO PRODUCTS CONTROL ACT, 1993 (ACT NO. 83 OF 1993) NO children under the age of 18 may enter a smoking section of a public restaurant.

If these laws does not apply, why in the world can I not sit and smoke in the non-smoking section? It's exactly the same principle!!

Please respond with some urgent feedback!!!
