Bad or rather NO service

Yesterday (Sun 27th October), our party of 3 people decided to go to this Wimpy for lunch. Arriving there, we waited for someone to seat us as it was busy and eventually the manager and a waitress came to seat us. They got a but busy or flagged down, so we took the menus from the waitress and offered to find our own table at the back in the smoking section. All of this was done in a friendly manner since we were aware that it was busy. we weren't really in that much of a hurry anyway.

Sitting down though, we went through the whole menu and still no one had served us. We asked a waitress to please send us someone eventually. All the while the manager was walking up and down outside the smoking section, with us in clear view, getting no service. After waiting another 15 min, we got up and left.

I understand that it was busy, but a GOOD manager knows how to handle his staff and the business and certainly does not just ignore a table that came in. Would it have killed him to just come ask us if we have indeed been helped?
