I paid by debit card for food purchased at Humerail Steers on 11-Jan - cashier accidentally entered R3550.50 instead of R350.50. I only found out when the slip was printed (amount does not appear on machine when entering PIN). Supervisor did a reversal on the machine, but refund was not immediate & could take up to a week to appear back in my account. Incorrect amount was deducted immediately!
I'm not blaming Steers for the bank taking so long to refund me, but asking them to send a message to all cashiers warning them of the consequences of entering the wrong info on the card machine. Maybe retrain them or put up a notice about this.
Due to no fault of my own, I sit without money until the bank decides to refund me!
