Let me first say that I am a frequent visitor of Karoo C&L in Fourways. Good food and excellent service is the norm.
Last night I went to the branch in Midrand. I ordered the 'massive steak to share'. After a long wait, the steak arrived. We promptly cut a slice each. (Unlike the Fourways branch the steak isn't divided and served by the staff. This wasn't a big issue.) The steak, the plate and everything else was cold. We called the waitress. The food was taken away. The manager (Sam) arrived. He said he felt the plate and it was cold. He apologized. After about 15 minutes the food came back. To our sheer shock and irritation, it was the same steak!! (Minus the slices that we had cut which was also cleared.) But this time it was burnt, dry and inedible. We called the manager again. He saw the burnt meat and apologized. Then stood there.. Not offering to take the food away, not offering alternatives. He kept saying he was sorry. He asked for my number and said he will get someone to call me. It was clear that he was incapable of correcting the situation; it was clear he nor the kitchen staff are trained to deal with these situations. I left the restaurant without having a meal.
