Bad Service received

Last night we took a friend to dinner.
We are new in JHB and thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to "show off" a great restaurant. So we have heard. We arrived and were ushered into a room. No waiter attended to our table after about 10 minutes, I went to ask for a waiter and he then came hurried over. We decided to move tables as the room we were sitting in had no ambiance or music. Upon moving to another table we waited another 10 minutes for a waiter to open our bottle of wine. Upon the request of water the waiter asked sparkling or still, when we replied that normal tap water would be appropriate, we were greeted with a look of disgust. Being in our late 20's we are not your usual high spending customers, so we immediately felt out of place. We wanted to order a small salad as starter, the waiter immediately suggested we take two as it is very small and he made a gesture with his hand indicated a round small plate. We trusted his opinion but when to HUGE rectangular plates arrived we were shocked! We only finished one. Upon requesting the bill we were corrected by the waiter that we meant the cheque? We found the service shocking.
