Standard Bank
TEMPORARY I.D

I attempted to open an account with Standard Bank on Friday, 26 April 2013, at its Durban Central branch. I was informed that my original green I.D. was too damaged to be used to open a new account. On Monday 29 April 2013, after many hours in the long lines at Home Affairs, I obtained a temporary I.D. Upon my return to the very same Standard Bank branch I was informed that I would not be able to open a new account with my new temporary I.D. I simply cannot fathom the rational for refusing a properly issued temporary I.D. for the opening of a new account as this is clearly a legally accepted form of identification.
