I have just had the call to say our claim as been processed and we will be paid out just over a quarter of what we claimed! How is it that insurance companies get away with doing this? They take our monthly premiums no question, but when the time comes to claim they always have to find a way to to customer out of what is rightfully theirs? It is bad enough that we live in a country where our possessions are permanently from under us, but now insurance companies who are supposed to be there to protect us are also trying to do us in! Where does Budget Insurance get off valuing a run of the mill lounge suite given to me by my dad at R15 000 and a baby cot I bought off Gumtree for R800 at R3 500! In other words they can value my posessions at whatever they want to twist things to suit them saying I am now under insured? Where do they get off valuing a R850 Nomination bracelet with charms at R150? What?! I am furious and I will not accept this. I am taking this case to the Insurance Ombudsman.
