I had the unfortunate situation of having my car broken into yesterday. They broke the back glass and took a few items out of the back seat. This was obviously upsetting at the time but as the evening progressed I figured it would be ok because I had "comprehensive Insurance" with Budget Insurance. I called them this morning to log a claim and spoke to a simpiwe. After an hour long Q & A conversation of the incident and the items that were, I was told that I do not have cover for the Items that were because they did not belong to me and I had no financial interest in them. I then asked what would be the case if they did belong to me? to which I was told that it still wouldn't be covered because I don't have home insurance with them and none of the items were declared to the insurance. This is yet another example of how clients are being taken for a ride by insurance companies. No added cover was offered to me at the time of taking up the policy that would cover items in and I was told that the cover is comprehensive. This policy costs R1000p/m, What am I paying for? BYE BYE BUDGET!!!
