No overdraft increase for no reason

I applied for a credit card online months ago and never had a response.
I went to the branch and was advised (only last thursday 04 April) by Mary that "Never do it on the website... it doesn't work".
She then proceeded to tell me that I DID qualify for an increase in my overdraft.
She reuqested some documentation which i gave her immediately and was told to wait for her to come back to me.
She called me on Friday as she now needed the contract of employment plus a letter from my employer.
I again went to the branch and provided her with this. she then proceeded to ask me for my passport (again) as her boss (The lady who is the branch manager) needed to see it.
She came back to me saying that everything was in order and "you WILL hear from me tomorrow morning".
Weekend went by with no news. I got an e-mail on Monday from her saying that because my Argentinian passport is due to expire next month, my application was declined.
1)- my passport is still valid and i have no reason to extend it for now.
2)- My working permit is valid until February 2016!
3)- I do have a duplicate passport which is due to expire in 2015. they don't accept this.

I demand a proper explanation
