Failing to close an account

I have been trying to close a FNB Credit for a year now and was told that I had to initially go to the branch which I opened the account at for it to be closed. After being told this I was then told by a friend that that is not true and the branch which I approached should have called the opening branch to get authorisation. Then I approached the Woodstock branch again where I was told by the Call center person that my account will be closed. I was told that I could complete this process myself by filling in an account closure form which I did and submitted to the relevant department. I have done this and I have not received any feedback except a email notifying me that they have received my request.

FNB is charging me R21.50 for an account I do not require any longer. This is completely unneccasary for me to be paying this fee and receive such terrible service. If this matter is not resolved by the end of next week I will take the matter to the Ombudsman to resolve.
