What if my house burnt down say in November???

I have been treated like a second class citizen. All Standard Bank seems to care about is getting their 3.5% (Executor fees). In February I got an email form them saying: Your insurance was cancelled in October 2012 and now it is up to you to reinstate.??? Only in February they tell me. What if my house burnt down say in November??? Well, I did have a claim, two outside gates from my business were. I went to see them, they agreed that it was serious and t said to me they would sort out the matter. Anyway they took too long, so I reinstated the insurance, but I have not managed to claim for the gates that were.
