Standard Bank
Home Loan debit order stopped unlawfully

On the onset, let me spell out that the essence of my complaint is that Standard Bank unilaterally stopped my Home Loan debit order. I took the home loan in 1997 and I have been paying it for over 14 years until Standard Bank summarily cancelled/stopped my valid and lawful debit order without my knowledge or consent as the Account Holder in March 2011 . This has resulted in my Home Loan Account to be in arrears.

On the other hand, I have been requesting Standard Bank to reinstate my debit order and reverse their unlawful action but in vain. Instead, I received up to ten calls per day from their Consultants threatening to repossess and auction my house in which my children are staying. In October 2012, Standard Bank then sent an agent who took pictures of my house so that it can be auctioned. This was a very stressful period for me and my children!
Where is justice if Standard Bank can unilaterally stop my debit order, take me to High Court in an attempt to repossess my house and then turn around to claim legal fees from me? How can an institution duly registered as a bank be allowed to conduct itself in such a despicable matter in our democracy is beyond me?
