In 2009, I closed my Standard Bank garage card.By 2011 I'd closed off all other Standard Bank accounts and was no longer a Standard bank client. In May 2012 standard bank took it upon themselves to open an account and issue a garage card in my name, without my authorization. I learnt of this and contacted them in July 2012. They admitted their error, cancelled the account and promised to remove the listing from the credit bureau. I am about to start a business venture and am also of buying a home. A credit check showed the garage card listed as late paid by one month in 2012. I went in to the branch and was assured that this would be cleared in 48 hours. It wasn't. Its been 2 weeks. I'm out of time and may lose the business and not get a good deal on my home loan unless Standard Bank gives me a letter confirming that they made an error in listing that card as late paid. I've made numerous calls and was ofen promised a letter "by the end of the day" confirming that the error was theirs. 2 Weeks of empty promises and a bad credit record is all I have from them.
