I set up a direct debit a couple of month ago and want to cancel it (as this account is in my husband's name) we have dcided it will either be paid from his account or EFT. Capitec has advised me that I cannot cancel or return the direct debit until I prove that that I have changed the direct debit to another bank account. Firstly the account is not even in my name.... Secondly who is Capitec to tell me what to do with my salary just because I bank with them... Since when is it a rule that I cannot cancel my direct debits. I have a few direct debits with Capitec which now concerns me as this bank is taking away my rights to make decisions with regard to MY money.
I suggest Capitec rectifies this and arranges the return of the debit (all other banks give u three days to return a debit) alternatively I WILL cancel my bank account, therefore ALL direct debits will be cancelled.
