Good payer looks bad

I was retrenched on the 31 december 2012 I had a insurance policy with standard bank for retrenchment cover for my personal loan. I went to the branch and filled out all the paper work and was assured that I didn't need to worry about my loan and my insurance would cover me for the next 3 month. This month I receive a letter informing me that my account is 2 months in arrears and I need to pay all the outstanding fees. Shocked and upset I go to the branch and inform them I gave all the documents 8 weeks ago and they tell me they can't help me as they waiting for my claim to be processed and they don't know if the claim will go through. I am still not employed and I worked in the financial industry and my credit record is very important for my future employement and now its at risk because my bank won't stop the charges being applied on my account evanthough they were informed of my situation. I was told its normal your account has to be in arrears and they charges will be covered yet no timescales were given and I have no faith my issues will be resolved and I fear my credit record will suffer more... How can I get a new job with a bad credit record when before this it was good
