REPETITIVE SMSs

FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS, I'VE BEEN RECEIVING SMSs FROM STANDARD BANK AT A RATE OF ABOUT TWO PER MONTH. THESE SMSs COVER ALL MANNER OF TOPICS FROM RAISING MY LOAN LEVEL, TO OFFERING ME CASH, TO INSURANCE OPTIONS, TO BOND FINANCE, TO REGISTERING PROPERTY.

THEY STARTED IN 2008 WHEN I WAS ADVISED THAT MY BOND FINANCE HAD BEEN APPROVED. THEN FOLLOWED PROGRESS REPORTS ON MY HOUSE PURCHASE. THEN FOLLOWED ALL SORTS OF OFFERS!!!

WELL, I'M NOT A STANDARD BANK CUSTOMER, AND NEVER HAVE BEEN. I'VE NEVER HAD A BOND, NEVER PURCHASED A HOUSE THRU STANDARD BANK AND THEREFORE DON'T HAVE A LOAN... AND DON'T WANT A LOAN.

I KEEP REPLYING "STOP" TO THE SMSs BUT THEY KEEP BEING SENT TO ME. I'VE BEEN TO THE LOCAL STANDARD BANK TO PLEAD WITH THEM TO STOP THIS NONSENSE. I'VE ALSO SMSed STANDARD BANK AND ADVISED THE SENDER THAT I DON'T HAVE A STANDARD BANK ACCOUNT AND DON'T WANT ONE AND AM SICK AND TIRED OF THE CONSTANT STREAM OF SMSs. BUT STILL THEY ARRIVE, TWO PER MONTH.

JUST WHAT DOES ONE DO TO GET STANDARD BANK TO DELETE MY PHONE NUMBER FROM THEIR RECORDS??? OBVIOUSLY SOMEONE WITHIN THE BANK ENTERED THE WRONG (i.e. MY) PHONE NUMBER FIVE YEARS AGO WHEN DEALING WITH SOME OTHER PERSON.
