Policy taken out in 1987 at R75.00 per month with a R6.55 policy fee deduction. On asking for the policy to be made paid up no person informed us of the disgusting costs. May 2004 Old mutual took a full R892.28 from the policy (R8.00 short of one years payments and then followed up with a monthly deduction of R12.07. Nearly double on what they were taking before. Just a help yourself attitude! This is disgusting when at the beginning they were earning 22% on that money. In 1987 no information on premiums was included in the policy document. One would expect some kind of advice to come from Old Mutual if they want to penalize one to this extent! I know advise everyone of the young ones I come into contact with to not touch these things.
