I received a letter from SARS that states that I owe them R48800.92 for an additional assessment submitted by Old Mutual. According to them I received R247080.00 in 2008 from Old Mutual. This is for some provident/pension lump sum paid out. SARS sent me to Old Mutual Polokwane to obtain the tax directive and original IRP5 for this payout that I never received. According to Old Mutual Polokwane there is NOTHING on there system and that I should contact Cape town. I wasted hundreds of rand on airtime. The useless call centre are incompetent and cannot assist me. I wonder who will take resonsibility for this "mistake". How is it possible that SARS have an IRP5 for money that does not exist or does it? So who is going to pay that levy at SARS and were is my money that I never received?
