My wife and 10yr old son were held up at gun point on the 19th of June 2013.
all police reports, insurance claims, etc was completed and i didn't foresee any issues.
however, the insurance broker contacted me and informed me that they would be doing a household contents valuation.
the report indicated that i was under insured and that they would not be paying out the claimed value, with attached receipts. furthermore, when i did insure they never thought it necessary to complete the evaluation.
and yes in hindside i may be slightly under insured. However, they valuation was unbelievable.
when i pointed out a few items that were incorrectly evaluated as an eg, ( dish washer new price R4500, their valuation, R13 000) they dismissed this.
they further said that i should employed an independent evaluator at my cost which i would not be refunded for irrespective of outcome.
which i was not in a position to do. the broker has also not provided any support and could not be bothered.
i have recently received notice the this case would be closed within 7 days.
its amazing how they happily accept my instalments, but when it comes time to pay, every loop hole is explored.
