I went into my closest branch 2 weeks ago to get a new debit card as my existing one is the worse for wear. I was told that I had a savings account (the account I've had for about 15 years) which I no longer qualify for and had to open a new account. I was offered a cheque account but declined as I am under debt review and by law am only allowed a savings account. I was offered an Access account instead.
The account was opened then and there, my debit orders switched for end June and I was off. Firstly, 2 of my debit orders incorrectly went down on the new account in May month, thus returning. Now after depositing a cheque at a branch last week into the new account, today I find my new account suspended.
This has been an appalling experience to date. I expect to have someone contact me to explain what is going on asap. I might as well have moved to a different bank - the radio adverts certainly promise a better experience elsewhere.
