UNHAPPY WITH RESPONSE RECEIVED - PLATINUM CARD

I have recently apply for either a personal or revolving loan or -failing that - a credit card. The response I received upon declination was that I do not have a credit record and need to open an account in order to build one up.

I do not accept this response as where else would I be better off opening a line of credit if not within my own bank? I am a Platinum account holder who has funds deposited every month at the same time and have been with this bank for three years. Where is the support? The funds are needed for repairs to my house and I am feeling very let down by a bank I have always only had good feelings and recommendations for.

I do have a default (of R241!) on my ITC record - this is for an account I was never made aware of that has been long settled and will be deleted from my report in March this year. Otherwise there is nothing negatively affecting me and I am astounded that my bank will not go beyond the face value of a situation in order to try and help their customers.

Very disappointed - Looks like I might have to turn to another institution for assistance
